Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive Brussels / Antwerp

Arrive Brussels Airport and transfer to Antwerp, the city of arts, design, museums, diamonds and a certain Peter Paul Rubens, one of the greatest painters in European art history. 

Begin a private city tour in the historical center with highlights including the medieval Cathedral of Our Lady, the stunning Grote Markt, the neo-Baroque Antwerp Central Station. Visit the Plantin-Moretus Museum - the only museum in the world to be inscribed in UNESCO, showcasing the printing works of Christophe Plantin and Jan Moretus in the 16th Century. Witness the striking Museum aan de Stroom, a contemporary landmark viewing over the roof of the city.

Thereafter, retreat to the stunning Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp, the only Belgian hotel that is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World

DAY 2: Antwerp

You have the entire day at leisure to unwind and discover Antwerp's incredible collection of museums including DIVA - the Museum of diamonds, jewelry and silver, the enigmatic Erfgoedbibliotheek Hendrik Conscience - one of the most stunning library in Europe, the contemporary M HKA Museum, the effervescent Middelheim Museum and many more. 

This evening, be treated to a gastronomic experience at the Three Michelin starred Zilte, managed by Chef Viki Geunes.

DAY 3: Antwerp / Ghent / Bruges

A remarkable day of epic proportions leaving Antwerp. En route, visit the charming university town of Ghent, dominated by romantic canals such as the Graslei and Korenlei. On a walking tour, we explore the pleasant atmosphere of Ghent including visits to the Belfry of Ghent, Castle of the Counts as well as opportunity to experience the Dada Chapel Distillery (Saturdays in July) for an insight into its craft beer brewing process. 

Continue westwards to UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bruges, the most romantic city in Belgium for its whimsical settings of fairy-tale canals, medieval atmosphere and charming alleys. We will arrive at the Hotel Heritage - a Relais & Chateaux hotel that is the epitome of elegance and heritage in the heart of the medieval district. 

DAY 4: Bruges

We spend the full day discovering Bruges, dubbed as "Venice of the North". On a walking tour, we begin from the Burg Square, City Hall, an opportunity to enjoy a private canal cruise admiring photographic spots at Rosary Quay and Minnewater Park. We will also enjoy the chance to visit the Choco-Story Museum, learning about the city's chocolate-making traditions. Worth a visit as well is the remarkably-beautiful Beguinage ten Wijngaerde, adorned with stunning white-painted houses, facades and tranquil cloister garden, once home to emancipated women who led a celibate life.

DAY 5: Bruges / Mons / Rochefort

This morning, we depart Bruges heading south at the beginning of the Wallonia region. En route, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Grand Hornu, once home to a coal mine and considered one of the most beautiful industrial architecture of the 19th Century. Today, it houses an array of stunning contemporary art and design.

Shortly, we will arrive into the former Roman city of Mons blending rich history with a vibrant cultural scene, centered around its magnificent Grand-Place and the unique UNESCO-listed Baroque Belfry. Visitors can explore its atmospheric cobbled streets, marvel at Gothic architecture like the Collegiate Church of Sainte-Waudru. 

Our day continues with a stop at the Strepy-Thieu Boatlift, the world's tallest ship lift raising or lowering boats at a height of 73m, one of the finest technological feats of modern Belgian civil engineering. 

Finally, the final part of the journey arrives us into the heart of the Wallonia wine region and a magical 2 nights stay at the luxurious Chateau de Vignee amidst vineyards. 

DAY 6: Rochefort (Castles, Wines & Beaux Villages)

Our agenda for today is an exploration of the beautiful Wallonia region, renowned for its stunning castles, wineries and a collection of pretty small towns and villages. On a flexible basis, we may be making visits to the symbolic 15th Century Renaissance Chateau de Lavaux Sainte-Anne, the fairy-tale Chateau de Veves. Highlights of the day will undoubtedly be the mesmerizing colorful town of Dinant, on the banks of the River Meuse, dominated by the Citadel. 

We will also visit Chateau Bon Baron, for an insight into the unique traditions of Wallonia winemaking, sample its range of wines along with an array of traditional Wallonia cheese.

DAY 7: Rochefort / Leuven / Brussels

From Wallonia, we return back to the land of the Flemish, heading northwards to the art and beer city of Leuven. Uniquely beautiful with charm built into every fabric of the city, we embark on a walking tour of its historical center from the Town Hall and the Oude Markt, witnessing striking 15th Century buildings, architecture, sculptures. Visit the De Hoorn Brewery - where Stella Artois was first brewed in 1926. We will also visit the 13th Century UNESCO World Heritage-listed walled district of Grand Beguinage, adorned with jaw-dropping cobblestone streets, charming alleys and almost 100 houses that were previously home to a community of unmarried, semi-religious women. 

Thereafter, we continue a short drive into Brussels, capital city of Belgium where we will arrive at the Hotel Amigo - a Rocco Forte Hotel

DAY 8: Brussels

There are lots to discover about Brussels and on a flexible basis, embark on a walking tour to discover and array of sights and experiences including the UNESCO-listed Grand Place, the quirky Manneken Pis statue, the neoclassical Royal Palace of Brussels and the iconic Atomium, built for the 1958 World Expo. We may also visit at leisure some of the finest artisanal chocolatiers, cafes for innovative craft beers and coffee. 

DAY 9: Departure Brussels

An unforgettable week ends in Belgium as we transfer to Brussels Airport for departure. Alternatively, continue your journey of the Flemish land into neighboring Netherlands in the north or the southern Wallonia region into Luxembourg.
