DAY 1: Arrive Riyadh / Diriyah

Arrive Riyadhcapital city of Saudi Arabia as we explore its rich history beginning with the 14th Century Al Masmak Palace, former residence of Imam Abdullah bin Faisal as well as a depot for weapons and ammunition. Nearby, we will witness the impressive grounds of the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Grand Mosque where the old minarets showcases a mix of Ottoman and Egyptian styles and were later rebuilt in the neo-Najdi style. We will also visit the Souk Al Zal, one of the kingdom's oldest traditional market spanning an area of over 38,000 sqm where we have the opportunity to witness a smorgasbord of goods paraded and sold through the charming alleyways. 

Later, we continue to the stunning King Abdulaziz Historical Center where we visit the National Museum, home to over 4,000 artifacts and heritage items, offering visitors a captivating journey through time starting from the earliest human presence on the land of the Kingdom. Step inside the Al Murabba Historical Palace, the first palace built specifically for King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia, inviting you to delve into the opulence and tradition of royal life amidst its grand interiors and sprawling gardens. 

Finally, a 30mins drive takes us to the historical town of Diriyah where we arrive at the beautiful Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Celebrating centuries-old traditions, the hotel’s architecture and experiences blend authenticity with modern sophistication, creating a gateway to Saudi Arabia's cultural treasures.

DAY 2: Diriyah

A remarkable day as we explore the heart of Diriyah established since 1446 taking you back in time to the ancient history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its old streets, heritage landmarks and unique natural components. We begin with the UNESCO World Heritage listed At Turaif District, considered one of the largest integrated mud-brick cities in the world.  Established in the 15th century, this historic district served as the original home of the Saudi dynasty and played a pivotal role in shaping the Saudi Arabia’s rich history. Its strategic location amidst the Ad Diriyah Oasis made it an ideal hub for trade and human settlement, attracting merchants and travelers from far and wide. We have the chance to visit impeccable sites such as the Salwa Palace with its stunning architectural features and ornate decorations, offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Saudi royals. 

Later in the day, make a stop at the lifestyle center of Bujairi Terrace, a premier dining and lifestyle destination spanning 15,000 sqm and featuring over 20 restaurants and cafes that blend traditional Najdi architecture with modern design. The development includes cultural spaces, such as galleries and an amphitheater, set within lush landscapes, providing visitors with a unique fusion of heritage and contemporary leisure.

DAY 3: Diriyah / Riyadh / Abha / Muhayil

This morning, we return back to Riyadh King Khalid International Airport embarking on a domestic flight on Saudia southwest to Abha, capital city of the Asir Province. 

Arriving at Abha International Airport, we will begin our drive into the heart of the city, making a stop at the vibrant Al Muftaha District with its distinctive narrow alleys painted with bold, geometric murals in the traditional Asiri style, where every wall feels like a canvas. Designed to foster artistic expression and community engagement, the village brought together studios, galleries, ​a public theatre, artisan shops, and a mosque, all within a unique architectural setting inspired ​by traditional Asiri design. Later, we continue to the Al Qatt Al Aseeri Museum, ​
dedicated to the traditional art and heritage of Aseer’s women, offers an immersive experience that showcases their distinctive style in home decoration and daily life. From the moment you enter, the aromatic plants at the entrance welcome you into a world of colorful geometric patterns and lively decorations. 

Finally, we will retreat to the Bayat Suite,  in the nearby city of Muhayil, adorn in contemporary luxury in genuine Arabian hospitality where we spend the next 2 nights.

DAY 4: Muhayil (Excursion to Rijal Almaa)

Today, we will embark on an excursion to the ancient village of Rijal Almaa, where travellers from Yemen, Makkah, and Madinah met and traded commodities like honey, coffee and perfumes for hundreds of years. Renowned for its 60 unique houses made of stone, clay, and wood that dates back more than 900 years, the colorful houses are adorned with Al Qatt Al Asiri, an artform pioneered by Asiri women and the houses can be built up to three stories high adorn with white quartz stone patterns, giving them the nickname of "gingerbread homes". 

We will also visit the Honey Cottage, on the rural outskirts of the village. Crafted from local trees and stones, the wooden cottage stands as a masterpiece of artistic recycling, surrounded by lush natural beauty. At its heart is a one-of-a-kind honey museum, making the cottage a beacon of economic, cultural, and touristic significance inspired by the region’s rich honey flavors. The Honey Cottage features a traditional majlis adorned with cultural artifacts, a café offering specialty coffees, and active beehives that produce various honey types. Thereafter, we then return back to Muhayil.

DAY 5: Muhayil / The Stone Villages of Al Baha / Taif

After breakfast, we will begin a 3 hour's drive to the spectacular 16th Century Thee Ain Village, set against the Sarawat Mountains, home to over 50 interconnected and multi-story stone houses rising in a pyramid-like formation, a mosque and nearby forts built to protect against the Ottoman army.  Thereafter, we continue our journey north, making a stop at the village of Al Atawilah with its distinctive featuring formidable stone houses and towering defensive forts like Al-Alwan and Dumas. Visit the Al-Fian Heritage Museum where we learn about the early builders' history and a treasure trove of Islamic manuscripts and artifacts. 

The long day of driving eventually arrives us in the rose city of Taif, blessed with a temperate climate that is conducive for the farming of roses. We make a stop to visit the Shubra Palace, former summer residence of King Abdulaziz Al Saud and a unique palace that blends Islamic design with classical Roman style. 

Finally, we will arrive to check in at the Intercontinental Taif by IHG where we will spend the night.

DAY 6: Taif / Jeddah

The day begins with an insight into rose oil and perfume production at the family-run Mishaal Al-Sufyani Rose Farm where we learn about centuries-old distillation techniques and the entire rosewater-making process. 

Thereafter, we will continue our drive to the historic city of Jeddah, steeped in heritage, yet bursting with modern flair. We start with the three-arched Makkah Gate, marking the start of the road leading to Makkah for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. From here, we head into the mesmerizing UNESCO World Heritage-listed Al-Balad district, characterized by labyrinthine narrow alleyways featuring buildings that elaborate the "Rawasheen"  wooden lattice balconies, that dramatically project from the facades. We have the opportunity to visit some incredibly house museums such as the Bayt Baeshen, Bayt Nassif or Bayt Matbouli to uncover the past way of life. Next, visit the Al Tayebat Museum, consists of buildings designed in traditional Hijazi architectural style, featuring laboratories, exhibition halls that showcases a unique aspect of Saudi and Jeddah's pre-Islamic and Islamic history. 

Finally, we retreat to The Ritz Carlton Jeddah, overlooking the King Fahad Fountain reflecting the classical architecture with Arabic punctuations and it is where we will spend the next 2 nights.

DAY 7: Jeddah

You have the day to spend as you wish in historic Jeddah with its lively and captivating Corniche area, a 30km stretch of waterfront promenade featuring a variety of parks, art installations, opulent restaurants and modern lifestyle. 

Worth visiting is the House of Islamic Arts, the first museum in Saudi Arabia dedicated exclusively to Islamic arts and an important venue for the annual Islamic Arts Biennale. 

Consider a visit the Al Rahmah Mosque, built on the shorelines of the Red Sea with its striking white structure that seems as if it is floating on the waters. 

Also worth a visit is teamLab Borderless Jeddah, where you can experience visual artworks moving freely out of the rooms, creating connections and relationships with people, communicating with other works, and sometimes intermingling with each other.

DAY 8: Jeddah / Madinah

This morning, we transfer to the Jeddah Al Sulimaniyah Railway Station to embark on a comfortable 2 hours high speed bullet train journey to Madinah. 

Arriving at Madinah, another of Islam's holy city that attracts millions of pilgrims annually for the Hajj or Umrah. We will begin our exploration witnessing the grandeur of the Masjid Nabawi, also known as the Prophet's Mosque
(no entering), built by the Prophet Muhammad in 622 AD. Our insight into Islam continues with the visit to Masjid Quba, the first mosque built in Islamic history founded during the Prophet’s Hijrah from Makkah to Madinah, symbolizing the beginning of a new era for the Muslim community. Continue to the Seven Mosques, a cluster of mosques named after the defenders who were stationed in these mosques in the Battle of the Trench in 627 AD. 

Finally, we retreat to The Oberoi Madinah, with enviable views from its unrivalled position steps away from the Prophet's Mosque.

DAY 9: Madinah / Khaybar / AlUla

This morning, we depart Madinah continuing our journey northwards to the volcanic landscapes and ancient lava fields at the spectacular slopes of the Jabal Abyad "White Volcano" contrasting with the Al Qidr "Black Volcano". Witness the surreal beauty of the lunar landscape extending over some 14,000 square kilometres complete with scoria, cones, lava domes, maars, and basalt lava flows.

Later, we make a stop in the ancient oasis and ruins of Khaybar,  for many centuries, an important caravan trading center after ancient dams were developed to retain rainwater, setting the conditions for cultivation of date palms. 

Finally with bated breath, we will arrive into AlUla, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage site where we will spend the next 3 nights at OurHabitas AlUla, a unique desert retreat where  dramatic landscapes and ancient heritage inspire creative expression, meaningful human connection, and the pursuit of adventure set amidst AlUla’s breathtaking sandstone canyons.

DAY 10: AlUla (Hegra - Tracing the Path of the Nabataeans)

Nothing can quite prepare for what you will experience today as we embark on our vintage land rover, cruising across the vast, desolate and silent desert landscapes to Hegra (Madain Saleh), the heart of the Nabataean kingdom where we learn about the remarkably-preserved rock-cut tombs such as the Tomb of Lihyan Son of Kuza and the clusters at Jabal Al Banat, where Nabataean architecture and funerary art are carved directly into the rock face, amongst many more. We will spend the entire day in complete freedom to explore one of the world's most fascinating and intriguing historical sites.

DAY 11: AlUla

We have another incredible day to explore AlUla where you may experience at will the many spectacular ancient sites or indulge in a a variety of activities that redefine the magic of AlUla. Consider a morning hotair balloon ride witnessing the ancient tombs and stunning canyons from an aerial perspective. Take a walk and wander through maze of historic alleys and hundreds of houses built of mud brick, lined up next to each other like an impenetrable fortress in AlUla's Old Town, now also lined with an assortment of atmospheric restaurants. Consider the Hegra After Dark experience where you will be immersed into a world of atmospheric storytelling, culinary delights, theatrical moments, and hands-on engagement to reveal the splendour of the Nabataeans.

DAY 12: Departure AlUla

What an incredible adventure it has been and today, we will depart to AlUla International Airport for flight return home.
